So, a bit of background
The photo used in the banner, is of the Enerald Seas, in Admiral logo, anchored on a Sunday morning off Little Stirrup Cay, photographed by me from a zodiac.
My interest in these two cruiseliners came about in 1985, when I met with Al Dugan in London, to discuss the on board computer systems. A couple of months later I found myself one Friday morning, in Miami, boarding the Emerald Seas to develop a system that was in theory, fine, but the differences between a commercial facility on land and one at sea were to become apparent. Eight weeks later, I was in San Pedro, California, repeating the exercise on the Azure Seas.
At that point, I normally would have moved onto another contract, but I didn't, and despite working on other liners, other locations, these two ships remained very special. All of this had long passed into the past, when over a short space of time, learnt of the death of a friend from those days, and not long after, saw a photograph of the Azure Seas, beached, and cut up for scrap. So, a few of the memories are being collected here, so they don't evaporate into time, and may be of interest to others who Supercruised.
